Our History

2018



In 2018, Five Brave Students from the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSLU) Embarked on an Ambitious Project and Began Writing a Business Plan. Their Goal Was Clear: to Make Snus Products Available to Consumers for Longer Periods, Independent of Opening Hours or the Offerings of Traditional Sales Outlets. Initially, Their Concept Met with Mixed Reactions from Their Professors – the Idea of Offering Snus through Vending Machines Seemed Daring and Unconventional to many at First. However, the Students Did not Let Themselves be Discouraged and Continued to Work on Their Vision, Even Though the Enthusiasm from the Academic Side Was rather Restrained.

2019


January: the Five Students Completed Their Project and Proudly Presented it to Their Fellow Students. The Idea of Offering Snus Products through Vending Machines Generated Great Interest, but after the Presentation, a Period of Calm Ensued. Everyone Now Focused on Completing Their Studies, and the Project Took a Backseat for a while. Yet the Vision Remained in the Back of Their Minds – the Foundation for Something Bigger Had been Laid.

August: in August 2019, the Story of Snusomat Took a Decisive Turn. One Group Member Called another and Said: “Come on, Let’s Try it – We’ll Start a GmbH!” the Idea that Had been Theoretical a Year before Was Now to Become Reality. In October 2019, it Was Finally Time: Snusomat GmbH Was Officially Registered. Just one Month Later, in November 2019, the First Vending Machine Was Installed in a Bar – but not just any Machine, it Was a Repurposed Snack Vending Machine. The Founders Had Modified it to Offer Snus Products. A First, Brave Step in Implementing Their Vision.

2020


In 2020, Snusomat grew steadily and was already able to secure several new locations for its vending machines. However, despite the initial successes, the founders were not yet completely satisfied with the solution so far. The repurposed snack vending machine had proven itself, but to further realize their vision, they now also experimented with converted cigarette vending machines. These promised better adaptation to customer needs, but even here, the founders were still looking for more innovative solutions. They wanted to optimize the user experience and make the machines even more functional and modern to take their idea to the next level. So the journey was not over yet – there was still much to do.

2021


In 2021, Snusomat Reached a Crucial Milestone: the Company Had Successfully Collaborated with a Manufacturer to Develop a Brand New Vending Machine Model. This Model Was Named Stockholm, Inspired by the Country of Origin of Snus, Sweden. The “Stockholm” Model Was Technologically Far ahead of its Time and Was Particularly Characterized by its Interactive Touchscreen, which Offered Users an Intuitive and Modern Experience. With this Innovation, Snusomat Was Able to Make the Vending Machine not Only more Functional but also much more User-Friendly. The Machine Made it Possible to Select Products Quickly and Easily, and Laid the Foundation for the Company’s Next Stage of Development.

In the Same Year, the GmbH Was Migrated to an AG to Prepare the Company for Stronger Growth.

2022


In 2022, it Was Finally Time: the First 10 Stockholm Vending Machines Were Placed at Various Locations. It Soon Became Apparent that the New Model Was a Huge Success with End Consumers. The Interactive Touchscreen Technology and User-Friendly Handling Hit the Target Group’s Sweet Spot. Demand Increased, and Snusomat Now Knew for Certain that They Had Taken the Right Path with Their Strategy. The Success of the Stockholm Vending Machines Confirmed the Founders’ Vision and Showed that Innovative Solutions and a Fresh User Experience Were the Keys to Success.

2023


2023 Was the Year in which the Founders of Snusomat Finally Put all Their Eggs in one Basket. They Quit Their Previous Jobs and Devoted Themselves Full-Time to Their Company. This Bold Decision Showed Their Belief in the Vision and Potential of Snusomat. The Stockholm Model Was not Only further Expanded but also Supplemented with Vapes, Making the Offering Even more Diverse. With this, Snusomat Made History: the First Vape Vending Machine in Switzerland Was Born and Set New Standards for the Market. At the Same Time, the Network Continued to Grow and Reached an Impressive 40 Locations, Establishing Snusomat’s Growing Presence in Bars, Clubs, and Hotspots. 2023 Marked a Turning Point where the Company Evolved from a Promising Idea to a Real Player in the Vending Machine Industry.

2024


In 2024, Snusomat Continued its Growth Trajectory and Expanded its Offering with the New Vending Machine Model Helsinki. At the Same Time, the Company Utilized Renowned Festivals Such as Tension, Techamsee, and the Summerside Festival to Seek Direct Contact with the Target Audience. During these Events, the Brands Sold through the Vending Machines Were Promoted. These Festivals Offered an Ideal Platform to Increase Brand Awareness and further Expand the Network and Personal Contacts.
